On the Horizon

I’m currently working on a mystery novel, A Fine Tapestry of Murder, that is set in the Parisian art world of the 1670s. A man’s body floating in the Bièvre, a stream in the Paris suburbs, comes to rest outside the Royal Manufactory of the Gobelins. It seems to be just a coincidence, but investigation carried out by Anne-Marie, wife of one of the craftsmen in residence there, reveals that several of the residents are involved. The story welcomes the reader into many facets of life in 17th-century Paris, from the tapestry, silver and woodcarving workshops of the Gobelins to the ducal residences of the Place Royale, from low taverns to Louis XIV’s court at Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

I’m now working on the third draft of A Fine Tapestry of Murder, which I plan to make the first book of a series of whodunits investigated by Anne-Marie Bruno. The next in the series will be Death in the Fountains of Versailles.
